Ingredients
Makes 2 hearty servings
2 cups rolled oats
1 apple, diced
½ cup nut & dried fruit mix
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon sea salt
4½ cups water
Pro Tips
- Avoid quick oats or steel cut oats, they get soggy overnight!
- The longer the oats soak, the mushier they will become. Minimize soaking time by adding water to the pot right before bed.
- Try sprinkling on some of these delicious toppings in the morning for the ultimate bowl: Maple syrup, fresh fruit ,chocolate chips, brown sugar, cream, coconut oil, nut butter

“Early morning race starts make food prep hard. Early this year I saw Tom Soladay prepping a miniature rice cooker at night to have oatmeal in the morning. He would fill it with oats, water and apples, set a delayed timer, and go to sleep. In the morning, he had hot, fresh oatmeal ready to go. It seemed effortless! I adopted his technique for when we don’t have a proper kitchen, which is most of the time. It goes great with electric skillet eggs and a side of protein.” - Sarah Engen, Rally Cycling Soigneur
